What’s new

ArchiWind now includes full support for the NEN 8100 pedestrian wind comfort and safety standard. This adds a new comfort criterion alongside the existing Lawson 2001 and Lawson LDDC options, accessible from the same panel in the 3D viewer.

Why it matters

NEN 8100 is the reference standard for wind comfort assessment in the Netherlands and is increasingly required for DGNB sustainability certifications across Northern Europe. Architects and consultants working on Dutch urban development projects can now produce NEN 8100–compliant wind comfort analyses without leaving ArchiWind — no more exporting data to external tools or manual post-processing.

How it works

After running a simulation, open the Pedestrian Wind Comfort panel in the 3D viewer and select NEN 8100 as your comfort criterion. The standard classifies locations by wind nuisance probability and wind danger thresholds, evaluating whether areas are acceptable for their intended use — from strolling and sitting to cycling and walking. The results are displayed using the official NEN 8100 classification, making them ready for inclusion in reports and municipal submissions.

Who is it for

Urban planners and architects working on projects in the Netherlands, teams pursuing DGNB certification, and any consultant whose clients require NEN 8100–compliant wind comfort assessments. If you’ve been using Lawson and your project calls for NEN 8100 instead — you’re covered.

Get started

Open any completed simulation in the 3D viewer, navigate to the Pedestrian Wind Comfort panel, and select NEN 8100 from the criteria dropdown. Your results update instantly.
