Recently, DARK Architects and MaPlan announced plans to begin the process of regulating Arne Rettedals gate 12, located in Stavanger, on behalf of the local developers. The proposed development includes the construction of two additional floors for office use and an update to the current regulation plan, which dates back to 1972 and lacks specific provisions.

As with any new development, it’s important to consider the potential impact on the surrounding area and the people who will be using it. One important factor to consider is the urban wind situation. Wind patterns within cities can be affected by the way buildings are arranged and the materials they are made of. This can have a significant impact on the comfort of pedestrians and the overall user experience of the area. By conducting a wind study, we can better understand how the proposed development will affect the urban wind situation.

At Nablaflow, we specialize in wind studies and have conducted a wind study over the area including the proposed new building model as well as the nearby high-rise currently under construction. Will a new restructuring of the building have a positive impact on the urban wind situation? New structures can potentially reduce the wind speeds at pedestrian level, aspect that needs to be considered when planning on changing the height or the exposed surface of buildings.
