AeroCloud Validation Study for Sports Aerodynamics
Automated CFD is only useful if you can trust the numbers. To establish that, wind tunnel tests on a full-scale cyclist mannequin on a time-trial bicycle were replicated in AeroCloud and compared point by point across yaw angles from -15° to +15°. The average absolute difference in drag area (CdA) was 6.9%, falling to 1.3% at 0° yaw, within the expected uncertainty of the wind tunnel itself. No calibration or correction factors were applied to the simulations.
